ACTNow believes in abolishing child slavery and advocating for children and communities. We take an “Inside-Out” approach to reach this goal. 

 

Often organizations and individuals with the greatest of intentions and generous hearts try and help those in need. They take what works in their own outside culture and insert it into the community that they are helping. In the end, that model can disempower the people and leaving a bigger mess than they started with.  There are many examples of communities that become dependent on outside help. Without a deep understanding of the culture and the multitude of minute intricacies, it is difficult to come up with a lasting, and empowering solution. It often ends up that many dollars are wasted and donors are disappointed but most importantly, the communities are not helped and the problems are perpetuated.

 

ACTNow doesn’t impose solutions to solve the human child trafficking problem from an outsider’s perspective looking in on the problem. We have sought and continue to seek to understand the factors that contribute to the social issue of trafficking and then find the individuals that care, understand and are interested in changing and improving their community in useful and meaningful ways. Oftentimes these individuals are already working on solutions to the identified contributing factors but just need additional support to the initiatives they already are striving to accomplish.  ACTNow bridges the gap between where they are and where they want to be in an effort to fulfil the vision that will shift mindsets and create sustainable change that fits within the local established culture.  These individuals have more permanent change because they are trusted and passionate pillars within their own, impacted community.
